A. Activating the software can be as quick as the same day!

No matter if you are a brand new dealer just beginning to trade cars or a well-established dealership or garage operation with data to import – the Dragon2000 team will work with you so the switch is as easy and painless as possible.

A. No - intensive training isn’t required as the DragonDMS is so simple to use. However all dealers who switch to our dealer management system are offered a free online Getting Started session where one of our expert trainers will walk you through the relevant key points, settings and features of the system tailored to your business depending on if you are car dealer, service centre or both. You’ll be talking to a real person, with real knowledge, and be able to ask any questions as you go along.

These sessions are 30 mins to an hour long – DragonDMS is designed to be intuitive and easy to navigate so really that is all you need to get going!

A. Of course! We have seen many legislation changes affecting car dealers and garages since 1995 and we have a specialist in house team that ensures we are prepared for any new rules, particularly concerning taxation and specifically the second hand vehicle Margin VAT scheme.

Over the years we have seen some creative and interesting interpretations of Margin VAT rules from used car dealers and other providers of DMS systems and car sales software. Accounting systems generally cannot automatically calculate Margin VAT figures, but the DragonDMS software can post this seamlessly into your accounts via our comprehensive Sage Integration.

Rest assured that the DragonDMS software is reviewed constantly by ourselves and HMRC inspectors to ensure that it complies with the legislation, so it’s one less aspect of your business to worry about.

A. Every business handling personal information is responsible for its own GDPR compliance, and car dealers and garages are no exception. Using a dealer management system does not make you compliant or pass the responsibility to your provider – but you should beware of motor trade software providers that haven’t done their research who could put you at risk, as it is your responsibility to choose suppliers that are meeting their own GDPR obligations as your data processor.

During several months in the run up to GDPR coming in we held free awareness events attended by scores of dealers to gain some insight into how they should prepare for the data protection changes, as well as putting several software features in place within the DragonDMS to help dealers meet their ongoing GDPR obligations.

We also made sure that as a company, Dragon2000 met and continue to meet on a continuous basis, all our obligations as a data processor storing your customer data. Unlike some providers who were reactive to GDPR only last year, we’ve also held an ICO registration regarding data handling since 2006.

A. The introduction of Making Tax Digital in April 2019 means you won’t be able to enter your vat return figures manually into HMRC’s system, they must be submitted via software. The first step to compliance is keeping all your records digitally, which is where the DragonDMS comes in.
