Data Security: Data Protection Act
22nd February 2016
Every UK business that holds customer data must be registered under this act.
- The Data Protection Act controls how personal information is used by businesses.
- Every business must adhere to strict rules which include keeping Data Safe and Secure.
The Data Protection Act is a powerful piece of legislation that defines how you use data, but also how you store it and where it is stored. Special rules apply to hosting companies that store data outside of the EU, so ensure you know where your data is housed as ignorance is not a defence.
Dragon2000 includes additional Data Protection questions where customers can be excluded from mailings and marked ‘Do not contact’.
