Electric Vehicle Plug-In Van And Truck Grant Extended Until 2027
The Government have confirmed the plug-in van and truck discounts will be extended until at least 2027, encouraging thousands of UK drivers and businesses to continue switching to electric vehicles.
In a press release posted this week on the Government website, Future of Roads Minister Lilian Greenwood announced that extending the grants will continue to drive investment in electric vehicles and help businesses to grow and save money.
EV discounts are currently as high as £2,500 for small vans, £5,000 for large vans, £16,000 for small trucks and £25,000 for large trucks, however the grants for the 2026-2027 financial year are yet to be confirmed.
This grant extension forms part of a wider £650 million government initiative aimed at reducing the upfront cost of electric vehicles and boosting EV adoption across the UK. The government article also states that, according to industry figures, businesses could save over £2,800 annually on fuel by switching to electric vans and trucks.
With the logistics sector in the UK employing around 1.2 million people and generating over £79 billion annually, the extension aims to help companies cut costs, expand sustainable operations, and support economic growth, which aligns with the Government’s Plan for Change mission.
